Gladys Newton School is an independent public school which is proud to be a centre of excellence, creating opportunities for success for students aged 4-18 years with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Our school is a leader in providing educational programs for students on the autism spectrum requiring a reduction in environmental stimuli, enabling them to achieve academically as well as learning to self-regulate their anxiety and behaviour.
Students are the centre of multi-disciplinary approach involving teachers, special needs education assistants, therapists and nurses.
All programs provided at the school have a strong emphasis on communication, self-care, independence and social skills.
Gladys Newton School offers a number of specialist programs to enhance student learning; ASDAN, Vocational Education Training (VET), Structured Workplace Learning, Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden and Senior School Community Access.
The school has safe secure spacious grounds with well establish gardens and shady playground areas. We have a wide range of amenities and programs available and custom designed playgrounds for students with disabilities, a gymnasium, an indoor heated pool, health club, home economics area, bike track, multi-sensory room (currently being refurbished), library and work skills room.
